Update: Geminids Meteor Showers Tonight

I've just heard further reliable information about the Geminid meteor shower.

The best time to see these wonderful shooting stars tonight is between 8pm and 12.30am. The advice is look to the south-east and as high in the sky as you can. Don't get a crick in your neck though and wrap up warm!

Good luck.

Thanks for this. I was lying on my back last night (stone cold sober and all perfectly decent - I'm prepared to swear an affadavit, whatever that is) and saw a couple of meteors. Maybe they were the advance party.

It's incredibly misty here in Glasgow, quite markedly so, I can only hope it lifts. I'll be taking the dug out later so will keep fingers crossed it's visible. I will however try and avoid walking into a tree which is what I did the last time I saw what I thought was a shooting star, which was rather embarrassing. So thanks for the heads up.

There's a freezing haar coming off the Forth here, so no starwatching the night for me.

Sounds good, hope they can be seen in Southern England as we've got clear skies tonight.

Eric I didn't see a thing last night although I wandered in and out often. Perhaps tonight though. Mind you it's cold brrrr.

Auch Observer, sorry I laughed when I read that. Haven't many of us done that at some time or another?

Hope it clears for you. It's clear here. Don't get the dug tangled in a lamp post either. :)

This info came from Jodrell Bank this morning QM so should be accurate.

I stood outside here in Devon for about 20 minutes and saw two of them. One was quite impressively long. Skies are clear with some faint high cloud.

Fantastic aren't they frank? I saw two and was coming indoors then the others appeared within a couple of minutes. Very cold outside though.
