Now if he would pay more attention to the AGW myth and distance himself from the "Frazer" "doomed" quote, how good would that be? I'm a staunch Unionist but if The Scottish folk vote for independence I would still feel the same about Scots. In the main, OK people. Bit like down here. It's always the minority that screw the rest of us. Even more so these days.

100% behind not extending devolution as well.
He's a tricky bugger and he won't be giving Scotland an easy ride.
The idea of devolution is what brought me to Scotland some 10 years ago. It has not progressed as I anticipated; I work on the theory that a child has to learn to crawl before it walks. In that analogy, I'd like to see Scotland stand on it's own two feet.

So the people are to be denied a referendum because there is a chance they might not vote the way he wants. Who the hell does he think he is?
I too am in favour of preserving the UK but unlike Cameron - and he has this same disgusting attitude towards any referendum on the EU - i accept that being genuinely dedicated to democracy means you don't always get your way. Give us a referendum on the EU and give us a referendum on the future of the UK and lets put both questions to bed once and for all.
I don't think he'll take too much interest in Scotland Hythlodaeus. Labour do because it is their core vote, but Cameron knows Scotland's real use is nearly over (ie oil) and therefore, as he said, any consent for further powers will be kicked into the long grass.
Morning John. You mean to say you only discovered us 10 years ago? Hopefully you like what you see, we can be strange folk. A lot of the attitude is bluff and bluster laced with a fear of inferiority.
I think it would do the people a great deal of good to stand alone. It may eventually bring out the entrepreneurial spirit.

I'm an (English) moderate Unionist, by which I mean that I would rather the Union was preserved but if Scotland wishes to go her own way then so be it.
Banned, I think there should be a referendum and it should include the 'further powers' question. We need further powers and the ability to handle or finances.
Only then will the public services and benefit system have any chance of being rebalanced.
It's a tricky subject, though if the majority of Scots asked voted to go it alone then so be it and good luck. On the question of "further powers" from an English point of view (and hence likely to be ignored by all Westminster politicos) only if the West Lothian question is settled once and for all. No more Scottish, Welsh or Northern Irish MP's voting on English only issues, no more saddling us with tuition fees and primary trust hospitals voted against by the majority of English MP's but only carried for the government by the votes of Scottish Labour, safe and secure in the knowledge that their constituents would not be affected by the changes.
By all means Scotland and the Scottish should have the means to select their own destiny, but the farce of the West Lothian question has to end too.
QM, sadly the unionist MPs always vote on English issues. For some reason they feel it's their right.
SNP MPs have never voted on English issues. They consider it unethical. I don't think enough people know that. If you want publicise it I'd be grateful. :)

Now that the leader of the Conservative party admits that the reason for not having a referendum is the "risk" to the United Kingdom it will be pointless for Goldie and company claiming other reasons like the recession, etc., for not holding a referendum.
I would agree with you there brownlie and I suspect OR would too.
