Yawn. Another journo who thinks he knows more about climate science than every science institute on the planet. Someone compared non-climate scientists who attack the work of climate scientists to brain surgeons telling cardiovascular specialists that they know nothing about heart disease, but this bumptious buffoon isn't even a scientist. For an objective view, you'd be better reading your horoscope.
I'm starting to feel that I need to write this out in big coloured crayons for you. Here's who says global warming isn't anthropogenic, isn't happening, or doesn't matter: Chevron, Exxon Mobil, BP America, ConocoPhillips, American Petroleum Institute, Marathon Oil Corporation, Peabody Investments Corp, Bituminous Coal Operators Association, Shell Oil Company, Arch Coal Inc, Williams Companies, Flint Hills Resources, Occidental Petroleum Corporation, National Mining Association, American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity, Devon Energy, Sunoco, Independent Petroleum Association of America, Murphy Oil USA Inc, Peabody Energy, Rio Tinto Services Inc, America's Natural Gas Alliance, Interstate Natural Gas Association of America, El Paso Corporation, Spectra Energy, National Propane Gas Association, National Petrochemical & Refiners Association, Nexen Inc, Denbury Resources, Nisource Inc, Petroleum Marketers Association of America, Valero Energy Corporation, Bituminous Coal Operators Association, Natural Gas Supply Association, Tesoro Companies
Here's who says it's happening, it's us doing it, and it really matters: Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, U.S. Global Change Research Program, European Science Foundation, American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Geophysical Union, National Research Council, American Geophysical Union, Arctic Climate Impact Assessment, Federation of Australian Scientific and Technological Societies, European Federation of Geologists, European Geosciences Union, American Meteorological Society, Royal Meteorological Society, World Meteorological Organization, Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society, Society of American Foresters, World Federation of Public Health Associations, American Institute of Physics, American Physical Society.
Polls now show that more than half the population are seeing through the lies and manipulation, so there's hope for Vronsky, who should find out who funds environmental groups. Like petrochemical companies.
I don't really want to plug this again, but Vronsky needs to learn what Copenhagen is really about, and that is population reduction, destroying Western economies and taxing the life out of us.
Vronsky. I have watched the clip and read your post. Those lists must have taken quite a while to compile, or did you have them already to post?Who compiled them, just curious? The first list are businesses which will do what business does to make a profit, we all know how they operate, who said they are saints! Your second list, the IPCC very suspect, still claiming the science is settled, only their own acolytes believe that any more, and their evidence is discredited even more each day. Most of the rest are either government owned or grant supported, so they will do their masters bidding. and so much evidence has been admitted lost, we no longer know what is fact or fiction, and frankly more and more people are treating AGW as fiction. And we are causing it all? Really? Look at geological history over the last couple of million years. We have done nothing to what mother nature can do in a hissy fit! Look at Yellowstone national park, or Mount Toba, or lake Toba as it is now. Both overdue for the next show. And we are supposed to get worried about a bit of warming!! Just be thankful that it is happening slowly, gives us time to adapt, just hope it doesnt flip to an ice age, that would be nasty. As for the video clip. Typical,we dont have an answer so throw him out,UN was it? As for getting it,I have had an interest in climate change for over 50 years,I know that science is still learning so it aint settled, and also that a long term scam has been perpetrated, for money of course;Yeah man, I get it!!!
The anger is directed against the deceit and manipulation of data. Climate change has always been a part of the cosmos and planet earth. Pollution of the planet by consumers is the problem. Nature will one day redress the balance. We sceptics are sceptical of the NWO motives and the use of people en masse as fodder. Reduction of fossil fuel burning must happen. Only the speed is the unknown element in the debate. As said by another poster, adapt and learn, not bully and nag, would be good.
I'm with Vronsky on this one, just think about it took 100s of millions of years to bury this carbon which we have release in a couple of centuries. What clouds the issue is that politicians have seen it as a way of increasing taxes which we all complain about as these monies are not ring fenced to lead us to a less carbon lifestyle. A simple experiment.
Seems to be a lot of confusion, is this "climate change" about climate change, reducing pollution, helping the third world, or bringing about world government. Lets take helping the third world. The third world group is already unhappy about the world bank controlling the money. Why? First thought is it too hard to "channel" the money.Think about it, we cant even keep our own politicians honest.World government will help only the so called elites. Pollution control is already underway, so lets think about AGW and the evidence for it.Most temperature readings are for aiding weather forcasting for aviation and reading are taken at mainly airports with varying precision. Have a look at this and then tell me we have accurate historical records. http://eureferendum.blogspot.com/
And if the records are not "fit for purpose" then just what the hell ARE we being sold.??! Lied to again!!!
Just a thought, If we do suddenly find an alternative power source, clean and cheap, what do you think would be the first thing to happen, why, a grateful government would tax its use to the max, and the Middle east would starve. And the safety of the inventor would be problematical.(state secret see!) Would it be made available to other countries?,your guess?, and also your guess where the first war would be and how quickly! And if you happen to invent a source which could power a house from thin air, dump the details on the net and vanish pronto; and watch civilization implode around you! Think of the reaction of the vested interests to such a discovery! No one has thought it out, Have YOU ever thought about it? Your person wouldn't be worth a plugged nickel!
Vronsky. I have watched the clip and read your post. Those lists must have taken quite a while to compile, or did you have them already to post? Who compiled them, just curious?
Always worth being suspicious, Apogee. No, I'm not a shill for any vested interest, conveniently supplied with handy lists for purposes of astroturfing. The list of companies supporting anti-AGW (together with the sums spent) comes from here. The article is called 'The Manufactured Doubt Industry and the Hacked Email Controversy'. The author, Jeff Masters, is a climate scientist, not a journalist. He writes at Weather Underground - I recommend a visit.
The list of scientific institutes supporting AGW came from closer to home - our own Iain McWhirter here. Actually Iain's list is very incomplete - I saw a more exhaustive one somewhere but I can't put my hand on it now.
If anyone remembers the famous hole in the Ozone Layer and the imminent frying tonight of the whole human race then they should be interested in a Ch4 documentary in the Equinox series.
It is 6 YouTube videos long and if you have ADS or need to do something else as well, just watch Vid 5.
Seems to me that Global Warming and CO2 is the bastard offspring of the hole in the ozone layer.
It is not the original CH4 doc edition but the version put out by SBS, an Australian network.

I get it Vronsky, the answer is follow the money. It's all to do with money, that's the sad part.
If only we had 'independent' science.

Anon 23:02,
Sorry you find your impending enslavement amusing.
Dealing with genuine problems is one thing - but that's not what Copenhagen is about. It's a front for the things I described.
Why do you think they are so quick to silence dissenters?
Work it out, bud.

Press conference where an uncomfortable question was cut short and guards were called to remove theoffending journalist?
Sounds like the Soviet Union to me.
Well said Vronsky.

Well, there are contraries, some of who have been contraries all along and some have become converted contraries.
Then we have contrary contraries, because they have always been contraries and like it that way.
Then we have the scientists who say, despite what Al Gore says, that the science is not settled.
Follow the money and it works both ways if you want it to. But, never let real science get into the debate, that would be quite contrary.
Personally I think it is all bollox and it all being played to an agenda which is yet unrevealed.
It is the creation and use of a new religion to manipulate and control the great unwashed, now that Darwinism has debunked the invisible man.
Danish,
The agenda has been revealed: depopulation, weakening economies, controlling and taxing the masses.

Understand the message of Climategate that 'science' is political these days.
I believe modern discoveries reveal the Theory of Evolution to be a 19th Century misunderstanding! But they don't want you to know that either.

I noticed an argument the other day that someone had suggested that the hole in the ozone layer accounts for increased Antarctic ice formation.
You couldn't make this up.
