The Chairman of the Committee on Climate Change, Lord Turner, said that demand for flights must be constrained to keep emissions from aviation at their 2005 level until 2050.
He also backed expansion, but only because growth had already become a government policy and "the only question is where the expansion should occur."
He said: "The crucial message is about constraint on growth. It is not correct to say we've supported Heathrow expansion."

The man's quite right. I did a lot of flying in 2005 and I've hardly flown at all this year!
When I used to fly, all the muck was always centered around cities. Everywhere else was clean air!

Dram, I just can't cope with using Heathrow these days. It's far too packed and noisy for me. I work 'round' it if flying anywhere but it's not alway easy to plan.
