Afghanistan - Another Loss

A soldier from the Parachute Regiment has died in southern Afghanistan the Ministry of Defence said today. He was killed on Tuesday by a suspected improvised device.

The number of British military personnel killed on operations in Afghanistan since 2001 is now 243.

This death comes after a soldier from 3rd Battalion The Rifles also died on Tuesday, following a fire fight near Sangium, central Helmand Province.

Two hundred and forty three lives lost to 'defend our streets.' If Tom Harris had asked the veterans what they thought about this war he would have been told the truth. But he didn't ask the question did he?

In the past couple of days so many people have told me about Monday's excellent ITV programme called "A Night of Heroes: Military Awards". Unfortunately I didn't see it but it is to be repeated on ITV4 tonight at 9pm.

Yet when you look at our streets you wonder if they are worth defending.

Tom Harris? Don't make me laugh. The man's a buffoon.

Sorry, should have added this to the above.

Every time that Harris finds the going a bit too rough he closes down the debate on his blog. He did the same over Derek Draper.

....and why is Mr Brown being given special dispensation to give 'evidence' to the Iraq Inquiry AFTER the General Election - it wouldn't be anything to do with his role in funding the invasion which might be a bit of a vote loser? Shurely not...

Indeed you do OR.

Or he doesn't publish your comment Cato, allegedly of course.

Clarinda! How could you be so cynical. If you can't get your mates to ensure you don't dig yourself into a hole then it's useless. Shows Brown still has some pals somewhere doesn't it.

There are a great many things that spoil Tom's image as the acceptable face of New Labour. I've tried with him, honestly, I have. I keep thinking that if I keep explaining things, eventually something will 'give' inside that great head of his.

Maybe I should try something easier, like tightrope walk across the Niagara Falls carrying a sack of ferrets!

Stewart, I do admire your tenacity concerning Mr Harris. Long ago I gave up reading his blog. He's too inside the Westminster bubble and doesn't want it to burst.
