That's ok, I can be tardy in such matters too.

He's talking about England. Scotland has quite a different mix of power generation and the capacity for renewables is much greater. If Scotland closed down all its nuclear plants right now the only difference it would make is we would be able to supply England with that energy.

Nothing I particularly disagree with but he doesn't talk about improving our homes thermal efficiency.

We can design zero heat / zero carbon / zero energy even homes these days.

We can also refurbish them.

We cand evolve energy production to communities, we can invets in proper renewables, not nuclear, we can encourage other renewables by incentives and funding.

Scotland has got what it takes, only the smaller more nimble nations will have the ability to go totally energy secure in the fure.

Just one more reason for Scotland to be independent and dump the resource drain of the SE England / London.

OOPS:
"If Scotland closed down all its nuclear plants right now the only difference it would make is we would be able to supply England with that energy."

Should of course read "would not".

Anyhoo - Ah like Wardogs comments. I never understood why Scotland built homes that were designed for a different climate?

I once read a Green Initiative leaflet that gushed on about how I could save money by going green, reducing the thermostat, not leaving the TV on standby and lots of other things to worry my head about. Turns out I might save fifty quid a year, or less than £1 per week. I recycled the leaflet.

wv 'uzzizannu' which is a bit scary.

Aye, we supply the south east. I've friends who lives in Lincolnshire, received their power from Scotland and even get it cheaper than us.

I must have had the same one banned because I started putting the kitchen fluorescents out every time I left, plus lots of other things.

The I found out I was paying far more to reboot lights and it was more economical to leave them on.

Like you I thought I'll just continue to use my common sense rather than read endless half stories.
