On the day before the vote in 2008, Irish bookmakers were offering cramped odds that the "Yes" campaign was a foregone conclusion. As we know now, It was not. This Year, the exact same bookmakers are already Paying Out on a "Yes" victory, leaving me to assume that our only chance for a vote of our own, lies with the Czech Republic and Jan Fischer, the caretaker Czech PM, is himself, a former Communist.
How low into the proverbial barrel to we now need to stoop?
Calling for no vote is a 'door horse stable bolt thing' methinks - Eire entered the 20th century late, and entirely down to EU subsidies. Now they are facing rising emigration, falling house prices and global businesses shutting up shop - there is only one possible outcome...
The Poles still have to ratify the deal, which I admit looks like happening without a problem, but the Czechs are a different proposition.
The President of the Czech Republic doesn't like the EU one bit. I heard on World Service last night that Czech Senators have put forward objections to some of the Treaty on the basis that it breaks the constitution of the republic. The legal hearings about this could take months.
Rumours abound about telephone calls between the President of the Czech Republic and David Cameron (who wants to give us a referendum on the Treaty) and possibly some deal.
If the Czech President can put off signing the Treaty until DC is PM, it may be that Blair will not get to be President of Europe after all. Wee shame as Spookie would say.

personally its all over the Yea's have it in the bag

I know little about betting D & C but that sounds ominous.

lot of the Irish media say its yes was listening to one of the leaders of the no campaign and she even said
the yes had most likely won.
fear of losing jobs etc seems to be a very influential factor she said one of the posters used was 'Vote yes for jobs'
it would be the same tactic in the U.K.

It might be the same propaganda in the UK Niko but I think they NOs are far stronger here.

Oh I haven't heard of calls between CallMeDave and the Czech Republic President. I did read about the pressure put on the Czechs though.

Yes. But I think the Czech President hates the EU enough to try to use his minited powers to do it down.
