Brown - 50 Days to Save the World

How often can one man save the world? I thought Gordon Brown had already been given the accolade as Saviour of the World but alas, he is now insisting we only have 50 days left. If only 'we' had a say in it but we don't and that's why so many people have stopped listening to the message and scaremongering speeches.

He said there would be a 'global catastrophe' if action to tackle climate change was not agreed at UN talks in Copenhagen in December. There was 'no plan B'.

To add a more dramatic flourish to his statement Mr Brown added, " The economic cost of failing to address global warming would be greater than the impact of two world wars and the Great Depression."

He should know, he's the man who wrote the cheques for the Iraq war and I presume gives the go ahead for cheques to be written for the Afghan war. Hasn't this global financial collapse been compared with the Great Depression? Aye, Mr Brown certainly is the man who can make the financial comparisons.

Another wee article on global warming can be read here. I do try to offer links to all sides of the argument.

This saving the world business is all a bit like housework you see Subrosa. You do it all one day and the next day it needs doing again.

He should take a leaf out of my book. One week's dust looks very much like one day's dust to me.

Seriously, did no one point out to him that after his disasterous Freudian slip about saving the world, it might be better to avoid that phrase in the future. In any case didn't Chicky Windsor use that very phrase about climate change last year before he jetted off in a private plane with an entourage of 50 servants?

Hi SR
Is he for real? Some of the human race may get their feet wet,and have to move location, but if the climate flips the other way, we will need all the coal we can burn. We are also told other planets are getting warmer as well, SUV's on Mars?
Of course, there is always Lake Toba
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Toba , happened just 73000 years ago, was Mount Toba then, and can now be found all over the world,in depths of a couple of centimetres up to 6 metres.
And don't forget Yellowstone National Park, showing signs of activity again. There are much worse natural disasters than a bit of, relatively slow, climate change.
Climate change happens, that's why the Huns left home, and a few other well known peoples over the centuries.
People, this is a new brand of snake oil salesmen,by the time we know the truth of it,(and they certainly dont,)they will be rich and gone, we will just be poor and still paying.

Ah Apogee, we sit on the same side of the fence. I'm not in the least convinced by the DOOM argument and I have tried to be objective when reading materials from both sides.

Oh dear, only 47 days left; the Mayans must have ben lying when they said we would last to 2012, bastards.
Was chatting with a Met Office lady the othe day. She gives lectures to Uni kids about climate change n stuff. I suggested that some people say there has been no Global Warming since 1995, in fact it's been cooling.
" No, that's just wrong " says she.
" Oh, it's a lie is it ? "
"Well that is why we now talk about Climate Change rather than Global Warming because sometimes the effects will lead to cooling like here in UK where we have suffered 3 poor summers in a row..." LMFAO
