This BBC1 programme was perhaps the most moving documentary I have viewed for a very long time. It certainly showed the quality and bravery of the people we have in our armed forces and their truly exceptional courage in coping with such horrendous injuries.
I do hope this has given thought to the members of the public who, when sympathy is shown to the military, say, "They knew that when they joined up." Many didn't know they would be going to far off lands to fight wars which have nothing to do with Britain. They joined up to protect you and me. But they do it because they vowed they would follow orders.
A screening of this documentary should be shown to every one of the 646 MPs in the House of Commons. Each one who voted for their presence in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars should now be calling for an withdrawal. Bring them home now.
Update: It emerged last night that three more young soldiers - two aged just 18 - have had three limbs blown off since June. Until the recent onslaught, there had only been two triple amputees from fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan in eight years.
All three are still receiving treatment at Selly Oak.

Very moving, finally the EBC get something right! Having endured a Munro programme which was not presented by a Scot, again, just like the condescending St.Kilda.
I digress, Seley Oak and Hedley Court does much good work, why does it take Help for Heroes to enable a better quality of life for these brave men & women?
Bliar & Broon are War Criminals, their Karma will eventually catch up with them, in this life or the next, they will be held accountable and judged.
It's all too easy in the back of a bomb proof Jag to send our AF to far flung shores for what purpose? This whole situation lacks clarity, honour and reeks of political incompetence.
Time the truth was told me thinks.

CD can you clear one thing up for me. Observer, on another comment section here, says Iraq differs from Afghanistan because Afghanistan is legal.
I didn't think Afghanistan can be legal because war with Afghanistan hasn't been declared so something can't be legal if it doesn't exist.
Am I rambling?

I don't know why we're wasting time, effort, money and precious lives on this abomination of a war!
They don't appreciate it... they're probably even laughing at us as they queue cowardly at Calais to further take the piss instead of standing side by side with our troops who are bravely defending their people!

While I am no expert in legal issues other than the Laws upon the High Seas - boarding of vessels etc and Rules Of Engagement - when and when not to shoot/open fire!
My position is Iraq was illegal despite having a UNSCR, legally it was spun by the UK/US to be legal - I went to pay back some dignity to the Iraqis; and despite my principles, I have kids to support but I never fired a round I didn't have too or want to..
Afghanistan - we are not at war with Afghanistan, The War is with AQ and the Taleban, hence it's perceived legality, but it is multilayered, multi faceted and therefore complicated.
We were invited by The President to help bring democracy and peace to Afghanistan and to enable a national economy (not based on Heroin) and with that growth, prosperity and stability - you'd think!
Karzai is allegedly the legal President in Afghanistan - he was put there by the West - I wonder why? Vote rigging and fraud was common place in the first election and the most recent - security being provided by UK plc - which also gives NATO and the US credibility and legitimacy in the UN's eyes......also it gives NATO a purpose and direction post Cold War.
So call Afghanistan legal - if you wish - I don't and as a serving "Rupert" I don't have to like it as we live a "sort" of democracy - the same that rigs ballots, commits postal fraud, employs backsheesh, dodgy land deals and does not give the electorate a say.
We in the UK are muppets, at least in Afghanistan they have a chance to change it - unfortunately they employ violence.
We sit there and let ourselves be defrauded by MPs - who are JUST public servants, but believe they're above humanity - bail out banks then continue to be ripped off by them - the UK has lost it's dignity, self respect and sense of fairness/ what's inherently right and wrong.
I see a dark future ahead, where legal and illegal does not apply to all the population - Baroness Scotland - case in point.
So when Observer says his opinion it is but that, lawyers and government will tell us otherwise.
Men will go to war because they think it honourable, politicians will remain vain and Scotland needs a different direction from Westminster if we want a better/different way forward and have the legitimacy to walk into another country - sovereign nation and to change it's way of life.

Lions led by Donkeys Rosie. Brown and Blair and the rest of the criminals who condemed these fine soldiers to this madness ought to be forced to spend time with the casualties, and meet their relatives.
If Brown had a moral compass he would be at the steps of the plane as the bodies come home, he would be in these establishments once a month at least following the progress of these soldiers. He would show them compassion and respect, and talk to them on a regular basis to hear their problems. He and his gang of liars will burn in hell for their duplicity. Son of the manse! More like son of satan.
Aye KBW they are criminals. Time we all protested and forced Brown's hand to bring them home.
It's UN endorsed subrosa that's why you have other countries involved as well as the US/UK.
God knows I wish it wasn't.
It's very difficult to protest about a war that has international backing. It makes you look like traitors. What we need to do is attack the international backing. The last time I looked the SNP's position was to support the engagement until the elections. Well that's happened now.
I think in this case we are well ahead of the politicians. They need to catch up.

I have to admit, withdrawal seems to be hinged upon each country's public opinion.
Canada are pulling out next year along with other countries and that's to do with public opinion I believe.
