I've listened and watched both the BBC and Sky News this morning. The only person to mention the Prime Minister was booed by veterans yesterday was Adam Bolton and his two MP guests remarked they knew nothing about it. Eh?
Not only was he booed for not inviting the Queen but also because he was nearly one hour late and these distinguished men had to sit and wait for him before their ceremony could commence.
It's my opinion that it should have started at the time planned with our without the Prime Minister. What say ye?

Hmm. I was certainly aware of the 'booing' from net and TV reports, so maybe old news this morning. My first reaction was that it was a bit out of order to boo the PM in his official role (after all he was nominally showing respect to the D-Day veterans). Then I heard it was veterans booing (and veterans today includes those who served in Afghanistan and Iraq) so I thought they had every right. Then I thought it would be okay if it was service families booing, then I thought... It might get to be a long list. So, boo if you have to.
Subrosa..
We were talking about this last night when i was out and i thought he was booed by members of the public for the state of the econemy. I never relised he was being booed by the war veterans.
Im sure the French prez booed him as well.
Mek he was also booed because he was so late and left these veterans waiting for an hour. Of course he was hob-nobbing around Obama looking for the photo opportunity for his wall but somehow I don't think he quite managed to achieve that. On occasion yesterday it seemed as if Obama was giving him the cold shoulder.
It's a disgrace he was so late Spook and his wife had the nerve to tweet that the veterans were delighted they were present! What world do the Browns live in?
I heard about the booing on the BBC yesterday so the media definitely covered it. You only have to have seen Nick Robinson's coverage of the Purnell incident to realise that the Beeb (and the rest of the press) is out for Gordon's blood: tinyurl.com/ngfx5y
Either way, politicising the anniversary of D-Day with boos? Kinda poor taste isn't it...
Try in for Treason and the shoot him.
It was shown on the BBC news around 6.30 am this morning and they did say a small section of the crowd booed him....
I am not surprised most Nats missed it as at that time in the morn they are normally still bleary eyed with the booze and lying in bed.
But to make better for you why not say every person in the entire world got up and booed and booed Gordon until their lungs exploded...
Mr Mxyzptlk,
If your last sentence was anything to go by you must be pretty bleary-eyed yourself.
You'd think the "small section of the crowd" would be more appreciative of the man who saved the world.
He's certainly not the Forces Favourite - check out the entries at ARSSE where there's even a suggestion that he is so demented he should be taken out the chain of command for the use of nuclear weapons.
I'm sickened by the way these commemorations have turned into publicity photo-ops for utterly contemptible politicians.
They should be reclaimed for veterans only, dragged from the hands of the spinners and crawlers.
Heads of state should be welcomed but only if they behave themselves and recognise the primacy of the veterans.
After all, members of the clergy would not allow a church service wouldn't be hijacked by politicians in such a nauseating way. (would they?)
Martin, the title of the post was that there was no mention of it on the media today on any of the news, with the exception of Adam Boulton whose 2 MP guests said they'd never heard a thing.
Poor taste? It was exceptionally poor taste for any poltician to ask for a ceremony to be halted for his arrival while veterans in their 80s had to wait for him. Poor taste indeed.
As for politicising the anniversary of D Day, war is politics didn't you know?
Niko I was actually up at 6.30 getting ready for work. Even though I'm a pensioner I still have to work to have a decent standard of living because the barsteward Brown has lost me thousands through my endowment policies and my small pension has been reduced by 31%.
There were quite a few booing him, not just a couple and to add insult to injury, he arrives smiling! Anyone in their right mind would arrive at least looking rather sorry for their tardiness especially when the planning would have allowed plenty time for the trip from the American area to the British one.
Thanks for that Vronsky, yes I should have put a link to ARSSE on the post. They're the people who matter in all this.
Some members of the clergy would allow a certain amount of this but I entirely agree Jess, the ceremonies should only involve the military and the Queen as she is the commander of the armed forces and, as you know, the oath is to her allegiance and to the country.
Keep these politicians out, they can be very dangerous as this man has already proven.
he deserved the booing. actually he needed a good kick in the bollocks.
Hi there OB, that's too good for him. Something to do with railings and axes is more my line of thought.
