You will all know the above woman is Glenys Kinnock, promoted in the labour party only because she was the wife of the ex-leader who lost labour an election. Of course, along with her husband they have made millions out of politics. Her husband is a major player in the company which makes our electronic counting machines which, I am weary repeating, should be dumped with immediate effect. Any computerised system can be manipulated.
She is to be elevated to the House of Lords and her title will be Minister for Europe. That's now three unelected people (by my count) on Gordon Brown's front bench - Peter Mandelson, the soon to be Lord Sugar of Tate & Lyle and now Glenys Kinnock. Having the unelected party faithful on the front bench should be banned immediately because it devalues the little amount of democracy left in this country.
I haven't seen the news for the past hour but I understand Caroline Flint has now resigned. This was the woman who was singing Brown's praises less than 24 hours ago. There will be more to this than meets the eye so I shall wait patiently for the six o'clock news.

I cannot comment coherently at the moment - I am too angry.
It's a bit of a garbled post from me because I was, and still am, incensed.
who?
4 if you include Brown
Desperation!
I predict a riot!
Crazy D
That's exactly what Brown wants CD, it would play right into his hands.
Yes of course Billy, I knew there was another one, just couldn't think of the name. :)
So that's what the bottom of a barrel looks like?
The House of Lords is so full that with any luck it will sink into the Thames in the near future.
This is at least one good reason why it should be replaced with a Senate of about 50 elected members. It seems the USA can manage with 100 Senators; why we need 800 is beyond me.
In fairness to Brown Subrosa, when you have absolutely no talent whatsoever on your Commons team, you have to look elsewhere for someone to make up the government, but Brown's reliance on unelected ministers is astounding. What worries me is that they are not available in the Commons to answer questions from MPs. It's an affront to the democracy that we rant about all over the world and insist that other countries have. (Well some anyway.)
I though Mrs Kinnock was an MEP though. Did she stand down?
Tris I can't find anything about your question and the media haven't said anything either in the past couple of hours. Perhaps each party has a list and the next in line will be elected because you elect the party not the person.
Aye OR, even with all the money in the world it goes to show you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
Oh yeah, that'll be the answer SR, she'll just take herself off the list if she was on it.
She should be in line for a hefty payment from Brussels and then £350a day plus ministerial salary....
Nice one. With old Neil in the Lords and their son something in the British Council in Moscow, they've not half milked us.
The confederacy of the unelectable.
- And the disgraced - Mandlebum and now Hain.
Brown cannot find anybody who is popular or honest enough to be elected who will work for him. In less than 12 months, anybody in Brown's cabinet will be out of a job and on the way down. Why would anybody decent bother to join a bunch of losers?
WW, would a reasonable answer be 'for a ministerial pension'?
They've not just half milked us tris, they've ensured it's full cream jersey.
