Sent to me by one of my loyal readers:
Oliver Cromwell's Speech on the Dissolution of the Long Parliament
Given to the House of Commons
20 April 1653
It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.
Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess? Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter'd your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?
Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defil'd this sacred place, and turn'd the Lord's temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress'd, are yourselves gone!
So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors. In the name of God, go!

I do hope not.
Aye CD things may move faster than we think.
SR,
Maybe not, Guido's site is onfire with the usual types ripping the feck out of Government - joy - can Labour go any lower - answers on a postcard!
I think yes, the public and media will not let this pass - there will have to be movement as it's not going away or going to get better for the unelecetd PM and his henchmen and women!
Disbelief! Some people have no shame or honour - hope he gets fucked over by a second heart attack and doesn't recover!

What the hell was that at 15:30.
Words fail me.
Our whole body politic is on the edge of a failure so vast and so unprecidented it is difficult to see how it can be brought back.
Only heard it on radio CD but taped it on Sky. Off to watch it now.
I think there has to be a GE LotF don't you?

Bearing in mind that there is a clarion call for some sort of change when it comes to finding a solution to the current debacle concerning the outrageous falsified claims for expenses submitted by duplicitous so called honourable members of Parliament.
Is it not possible that the cart is being put before the horse in so far as the system for the payment of expenses might be perfectly adequate for the purpose it was set up for and it is the morality of our elected members of parliament which should be under scrutiny - the same intense scrutiny as Speaker Martin is presently undergoing.
I earnestly hope Speaker Martin is not being set up as a patsy to get the eye off the ball as far as the conduct of those MP’s who screwed the system are concerned.
I've just been watching TV footage BD while I cook tea. You're right in many respects. What's the point in asking for a change of chairman when the whole constitution is wrong?
We should have an election and sort out the good from the bad, along with radically changing the expenses scheme.
