Secretary of State for Scotland to Sit In on SNP Cabinet

With all the budget talk yesterday, I missed the news that Jim Murphy is to sit in on a meeting of the SNP cabinet.

Mr Murphy said the "Scottish people won't forgive politicians if partisan politics got in the way of economic recovery."  Well, well another campaigning soundbite from London labour.

Alex Salmond knows what he's doing inviting Jim Murphy to a meeting but I'm not quite sure if it is one of his better ideas.  Of course he wants to be seen as non-partisan and to show Gordon Brown his insult, (the refusal of a meeting between the two cabinets) didn't sting, but as one commenter (Sierra Foothills Scot) in the Scotsman said "He [Murphy] has a formal job description but he seems to believe he is Governor General of Scotland."

I'll be interest to hear your opinions.  Good or bad move?

As long as you ensure that a full biological deep clean takes place after the venomous, toxic piece of work has left. Make sure there are no bugs planted, as well.

If they sit down and the people you know the people (thats like all both pro-union and Nationalists)of Scotland benefit.
Wouldn't that be a good thing

It really boils down to weather Alex wants to be the First minister for Scotland or the First minster of a snp Government.

If they can find any common ground towards ending the economic downturn. Most people in Scotland would be more appreciative. Than if the ceaseless war of attrition between the snp Government and Westminster were to continue...

but then again as Margaret Thatcher said....On some things you can not compromise

Niko this just show that the SNP do not have the same hatred of labour as labour shows towards the SNP. Erm... which man refused to say he would work with the SNP? Kind of remember his name was Gordon something.

They need a tea boy as that's about his limit.

I like that CH. Just hope they don't have a variety of teas available though because it'd be a shame if he mixed up the darjeeling and the earl grey.

Perhaps a rehearsal for Gordon to invite St. Obama to sit in a UK cabinet meeting, hoping to share a little stardust ( Jim murphy just doesn't do it though ).

Jim Murphy doesn't do anything for me banned. Oh there's one exception, he encourages me to switch the TV off when he appears.

Jim Murphy is a useless numpty who has never worked in his life, no qualifications thus would be lucky to get a job in McDonalds, so what is this creep doing prancing about the country as if he is something, what is he doing sitting in a Scottish government meeting. Who is going to help him with the big words and how will he get by without someone telling him what to say?

There must be a lot of thick voters in East Renfrewshire but hopefully Murphy will be stacking the shelves in a supermarket where he should be after the next election!

I'm still not sure if this is a good move Billy. Hey! I've a good pal who lives in E Renfrewshire and she's not thick. Erm on second thoughts she may be just a little as she votes labour.
