Today's First Minister's Questions was dedicated to the catastrophe which occurred in the North Sea around 24 hours ago. Alex Salmond gave a detailed update and sadly confirmed the services were no longer considering rescue but recovery. The whole Parliament conveyed their condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the dead.
A third of today's FMQs on the BBC was given over to Westminster where Jim Murphy made a statement about the incident. It was sad to note the House was more or less empty. Where were all the Scottish labour MPs?

Absolutely, it's a disgrace that Scottish MP's don't even bother to turn up for the High Commissioner's Questions.

According to Ian Dale date for the next UK General Election is 7th May and there appears also to be a constitution change to fixed terms?

Aye I read that DC, I couldn't read the small print though. It must be error. Watch the back pedaling once the circus leaves town.
MPs don't even turn up at the HoC so don't be surprised if the Scottish Parliament is somewhat lacking in numbers: they're all down here tinkering with their expenses.
SR: I'd really like to know whether you favour Scotland being a full member of the EU. I just don't understand it because it seems that on the one hand you advocate the SNP yet you don't see that the EU is just breaking us up into 'regions'. You're going to lose your 'independence' any which way so why the SNP?
G Vienna, that's where I'm speaking about, the House of Commons. Jim Murphy gave a statement there at lunchtime and there couldn't have been more than around 2 dozen members present. I counted 6 on the labour side, including Murphy.
But, do you favour Scotland being a part of the EU?
Now GV about the EU. I favour the Norwegian and Swiss way rather than taking a full membership. As you say these countries have good trade agreements but have no forelock tugging to the EU whatsoever.
That may be a good idea for a post. Wonder if Wardog or yourself is up for it?

But, why can't we face it together? I didn't realise that the SNP were so pro-EU and so anti-British.
I'd like to see a post from WarDog explaining why Scotland and England are better apart.
GV if you look at Wardog's blog you'll see why Scotland wants independence. Britain hasn't been good to this country for the past 40 years and it's becoming worse and worse. I'd best stop before this gets into a rant.
I'll ask Wardog if he'll do something on the EU as I'm out of the loop about it these days. I do know the Lisbon Treaty is the ultimate in giving away powers to Europe though.
BBC Radio 4 had the grace to broadcast a reading of the full list of the deceased just after the 5pm news yesterday, very moving, R.I.P.

Spook, FMQs was dedicated to the tragedy although Kezia says it shouldn't have been 'cancelled'. It wasn't cancelled it was given over to a Scotland and an update on what was happening - an update which hadn't reached the MSM. What was wrong with that?
PMQs was cancelled because of the sad death of David Cameron's son. If the deaths of 16 of Scotland's oil workers isn't that important, then the unionist ought to look to their values.
