UPDATE
Some of you will know that since my initial post the Big Lottery Fund offered to fund the trip to Normandy for the 65th anniversary of the D-Day landings for 500 veterans. The Daily Mail led a campaign this week and the veterans have now almost raised enough with their help.
The Lone Voice has brought to my attention that Peter Hodge Hon. Secretary of the Normandy Veterans has said, "There's no way in the world I'm going to agree with the National Lottery standing up and saying they sent out veterans to Normandy in the 65th anniversary. The people of this country have put the money together and the veterans this year will be going to Normany with the blessing and the appreciation of the British people and there is no way, that 10 weeks before the kick-off, they (the National Lottery) are going to take the credit for this."
Good for Peter Hodge, I wish we had more of his kind in this country, people who are prepared to stand up to government's ridiculous solutions to problems that shouldn't have existed in the first place. You've more than returned your double insult Mr Hodge, well done.

Yeah well...I'm not sure about your PM.... He 's like our former PM Paul Martin... all he's ever wanted to do was become PM at all costs...didn't last long...
Morning Baron, you know someone was only saying that to me the other week. I didn't know anything about Paul Martin until then. Your country seems to be holding its own in the mess, well done.

Dont start me on this subject, my blood pressure has not dropped from the last rant
Thanks for that Niko. I read an article about the same woman in another paper earlier this week. This is only the beginning. There are going to be plenty people on the street and lots of empty middle-class type housing, especially in the south. Labour need to get all these new policies they talk about working.
TLOTF, my blood pressure's constantly high these days. Every day I think surely they can't stoop further.
Good luck to the veterans, my advice would be to invite Mr Brown and a coup[le of MOD wonks, then put them on small chairs to the side of the main platform.
I have a feeling the Veterans Association will treat Brown and Co with the amount of respect they deserve It's either banned.
