SUBROSA'S SUPER SEVEN (blogs)

This week's choices aren't all related to Scottish politics but I do hope you enjoy them.

John Redwood -  the 45 minute Westminster debate to approve £1 trillion!

Old Holborn -  we can photograph you but you can't photograph us

polaris  -  a young person's view of the Scottish government’s reshuffle

SNP Tactical Voting -   the logic of labour

universality of cheese -   the first resignation of the banking wizards

Wardog -  posts on LIT and a fairer Scotland

Wrinkled Weasel -   the banning of Dutch MP Geert Wilders from UK including Fatna video

Fish suppers to :  Nikostratos -  for the new banner which made me smile and his Photoshop improvement (although not a lot)

Dennis -  are e-books the new hardbacks?

Subrosa, thank you for my mention - I am flattered. Doesn't mean I am a Nationalist, yet!

Clara, it's my pleasure. I thought your post was excellent and very worthy of a mention. Quite difficult to reduce it to just seven as there were lots caught my eye this week.

Auch Clara, I've no intention of 'converting' you or anyone else. We're all capable of making our own decisions - except my tory friends of course!

subrosa,

To be fair I thought that Nikos contributions over the last week would have merited more than an "honourable mention".

I have to say I enjoyed them a lot more than his political views.

Auch I cannae win can I? lol Anyway he got a virtual fish supper so that's not too bad is it.

In the main block I was trying to put the serious stuff.

Now niko will never forgive me, because he's got you on his side brownlie! :(

subrosa,

I've always been on his side. We are the only two on this site that spout unionist nonsense and tripe on a daily basis.

By the time we're finished Gordon will be spoken about in the same terms as Joan of Arc. What a bonfire that will be!

WV is crock - very appropriate to my postings.

Thankyou Rosa. I feel privileged.

I am relying on your blog to keep me up to date with SNP news and all things Scottish. It's a lively blog - not easy to get a balance, but you do.

Awe WW it was a pleasure to include you this week. There are bloggers who post about Scottish politics in much more depth (and much more eloquently) than I do, but my aim is to keep it light and then give links to these posts.

Have a good day: the snow is melting more here.

Re your comments on my blog about Dennis and his amazing electronic books.
I don't think the technology is quite there...yet.
Paper books will still be the norm for a few years, until the older generations check out...

Brownlie

My political views are slowly coalescing around anyone advocating the replacing of capitalism...

I have a payout towards a private pension coming to me ..some thousands of pounds
if i take cash the money will be much reduced...Given my private pension has reduced by about 27% should I (a) place the full amount into my pension pot and then watch it reduce over the coming months(plus the thought of paying those b #ankers in the city )
(b) cash it in and pay for a nice holiday for me and wife in the far away sun...

subrosa, thanks for the puff!

Conan, I agree. Paper books have a lot to recommend them. However, they're not very eco-friendly and cost a lot to print & distribute. Initially see ebooks replacing read-and-forget-it paperback fiction. I do know that people who have bought electronic readers then go on to buy many fewer paper books.

Niko, definitely b then any extra stick it under the mattress or put it into Canadian dollars. Canada is a country in which no bank has had to be bailed out.

I wouldn't trust any bank with mine unless it is less than £20,000. All this £50,000 guarantee business is going to come back and bite the treasury and also sterling won't be worth much by the time Gordon's finished.

I put your bit in Dennis because I hear people talking about e-books. As Conan says it'll be the next generation who really use them but a few of my 'maturing' friends use them to take on holiday, purely because of space and weight.

I don't fancy one - the nintendo brain trainer's put me off :)

Nikos,

Buy RBS shares - they have bottomed and are bound to go up with the rubbish having been cleared off the board and my nephew is one of the directors.

subrosa said...

Are you or your nephew guaranteeing RBS shares now brownlie? If so, I'll have half a dozen.

brownlie said...

If they don't start climbing he's lost a barrow-load, not me!

subrosa said...

It's so easy being a broker isn't it brownlie? :) Niko your best chance is the mattress I think.

I've friends who have shares with Lloyds TSB/HBOS and they phoned earlier. They're now worried to death really as the shares were for their pension. He actually went to the meeting to vote NO to the takeover but said the big boys had it all sown up. The big boys won't be feeling so smart now.

Thanks scunnert. Hopefully there's a variety and mention of some blogs not all of us read. John Redwood's post was an eye-opener but I don't suppose surprising.

Auch KW how kind you are. Wasn't there anything of interest for you this week? You did have a few posts that caught my eye especially the Nae Nukes Here one but it got overtaken by events a bit.

AMW's idea of subtlety is to use a smaller hammer, subrosa;-)

Seems like it Conan. Think he uses a chisel at times too.
