CHARLIE GORDON, MSP, WEBSITE EXPENSES

Charlie Gordon, labour MSP for Glasgow Cathcart, former Glasgow City Council leader and the man who 'acted in good faith' over the Wendy Alexander scandal. The same man who was on Newsnicht back in July, putting himself forward for the post of leader of labour MSPs in the Scottish Parliament, but he didn't get enough support.

How many of you have websites?  Quite a few I expect, especially if you have a business of any kind.  Charlie Gordon has a website for his business which, as we know, is looking after the good people of Glasgow Cathcart.  He charged these good people and the rest of the population of Scotland £12,822 this last financial year for the privilege of reading his website.  That's about £10,000 more than any similar site should cost - I'm being generous too.

Mark Pack, Liberal Democrat Voice has an excellent article on the ins and outs of Mr Gordon's website expenses, so no need to repeat them here.

What I do need to repeat is this - why do we continue to accept this behaviour from any MSP?  Last week this was news and now this week not a word about it in the press.  Has anyone complained to Parliament officials?  Has labour taken any action?

The Turks obviously think it's a serious matter because it's mentioned in the Turkish Weekly.  Why can't we see how important it is that we stamp out this trough-digging now.  Once we have independence we need quality MSPs (or whatever we decide to call them) to represent us, the type of person who understands the meaning of the words trust and honesty. Incidents like this can't be allowed to become tomorrow's chip paper, they must be resolved, and quickly.

subrosa,

Fit like??

The reason we accept this kind of behaviour is that most Scots are courteous and polite and do not like complaining. We work on the principle of "grin and bear it" and this gives a huge advantage to those hard-necked greedy sods.

By the same token we accepted the verdict in the "cash for honours" enquiry even although we, the public, knew that the shameless Labour Party were guilty as hell.

All other "inadvertent and accidental" breaches of the rules were condoned and the offenders free to carry on corrupting with impunity.

As a nation we are, obviously, so sheep-like that we carried on voting for the Labour party despite knowing that they were no longer the Labour Party that the originators of the party envisaged.

A prime example of this was the Labour Party winning the election despite taking the country, deviously, into an illegal invasion against the wishes of the vast majority in this country.

I've only posted this lengthy epistle to show I was only kidding about taking the huff despite your constant insults hee!! hee!!

You are on a roll, Rosa.

Brownlie, thank you for your contribution. May I say that would have been a super first post on your new blog :-)

Aye strange that isn't it Oldrightie. I had problems finding a photo of him where you could actually see his face.

He doesn't even bother to put a picture up on theyworkforyou.com

Do you think that's guilt or does he feel he's so popular?

Auch WW, when you see (by accident) the Turkish Times mentioning this kind of thing, it sticks in my craw that we just accept it.

Brownlie, I meant to ask, are the other two in your photo your minders? Or perhaps your golfing pals?

super-subrosa,

We have foursomes in golf as you have in bridge - and in other things from what I hear about your area - and the guy in the middle is my regular golfing partner and the guy taking the picture's partners the Conan, with a haircut, look-alike. The guy on the right with the blonde hair is little me! Lets see a picture of your four-some - bridge or whatever but keep it clean in case Nikos is watching!

I'm still trying my blog out and thought I'd do the Iraq thing again as it's near to my heart.

WV: is grantski - creepily close!

Well, well, well, if it isn't my old 'friend' Charlie Gordon.

Rosa, do you remember when he got into a little difficulty when he was leader of the GCC over his impending wedding reception to be held at the newly refurbished Glasgow Wintergardens in the Gorbals?

He was accused of spending taxpayers money just to speed up the contract for the place to be finished in time for his reception, which he denied and then decided to go elsewhere - well I was one of the contractors working on that job and I can categorically tell you that I was one of the contractors called into a secret meeting and told to speed up the site works because Charlie Gordon wanted it - regardless of the additional cost to the taxpayer.
And then when he pulled out because of the bad publicity, he ordered that we should finish the job even earlier, thus costing the taxpayer even more money, just to save his face and throw the newspapers off the scent of scandal.

The man is an out and out CROOK.

Just like Purcell - another Labour Crook.
