After all the negativity in the Scottish Press over the past week, the SNP's budget has passed the first stage with a superb performance from John Swinney, Finance Secretary. I didn't manage to watch all the debate but, from what I did see, he was wiping the floor with the other parties.Well done John! Only another 2 rounds to go.

Yes scunnert, that's what worries me about John. He's a placid, honest man and has little deviousness in his personality. I'm sure he's learned a bit more since being Finance Secretary though.
My worry is similar to yours. The SNP just don't seem to be able to 'jump' quickly enough on lies and deceit. Glenrothes is an example of that. Kevin Pringle has been superb in his role over the years but maybe he needs more help. I really don't know what the answer is - only the solution.

The Greens will accept in time I think. From what I hear the SNP think the insulation idea is a good one. Just when I've spent £900 on insulating the study here! Not to worry it's only the son's inheritance.

Ecellent stuff subroaster! I agree , swinney is a decent man in a nest of vipers. The old fashioned type who calls a spade a spade and not a multi functional house hold appliance.....The mind of polictican the populus like. Unlike labour who have pissed of their entire electorate in Scotland by waxing lyrical into lies and deceit. The people of Scotland see through this BS and expect better ofthe people who are PAID BY US, to make valid non partisan decisions on our behalf.
Labour have learned nothing and the Liberals are trying to merely simile them. Not good role models.
