Many (circular) sources have warned mankind that Global Warming threatened the existence of the loveable Polar Bear.
On 25th May this year, the venerable BBC warned that "Polar bears face 'tipping point' due to climate change." [A strange reason. Given that their habitat was supposed to be melting, 'Global Warming' was a more accurate description.]
WWF (the eco-friendly organisation, not the steroid-enhanced, muscle-bound men-in-leotards acting academy) has also highlighted the plight of the furry, photogenic ursus maritimus. Tugging at readers' heartstrings, it even uses their 'plight' to solicit donations.
Just in time for Christmas, the Obama administration via the US Fish and Wildlife Service have decided polar bears have no need of endangered species status.
