The Origin of Oil
Leroy Fletcher Prouty. As a banker who has a degree in banking and just not an accountant from big business he ought to know what he's talking about.

Yes, I believe every word he says. I have come across the abiotic theory of petroleum before, it's widely accepted in Russia I think and sounds to me far more sensible than the accepted biological explanation.
But I could never understand why it was never discussed or acknowledged. The video makes it obvious. And why AGW fits neatly as the next step in the same process.
More scientific details here:

Makes sense to me too Woodsy.
Thanks for the link. Good one.
He may have degrees in banking, but he knows diddly-squat about chemistry, never mind geology.

Hi SR.Enjoyed the vid. He knows the way finance works.
Scientists tell us that one or more of the moons of saturn are awash with Hydrocarbons, ( basically oil) so as all the theory of this would preclude an organic source on a moon, I'm inclined to believe him.
Whether oil is sourced from abiotic or fossil is irrelevant, what's there is there and it's use as a fuel is established.
What is relevant are the controls factored in to its pricing and the use of those by governments to add duties and taxes to the mix.
I've read that link before Hazel and I'm not convinced by it. I'd rather listen to the geologists who work in the oil industry and I've yet to meet one who will say oil will run out in the next decade.
But Crinkly, as someone said on another post, oil is the world's currency. Governments world wide us it to create taxes.
Does the universality of a wrong make it right Rosa?
Like I said a while back, what makes you think the Earth has stopped making oil?
indeed not Crinkly but what could the global currency be replaced with? Windmills and solar have bitten the dust and carbon credits have now too.
I had not read this before posting the links on the other thread Rosie, honest.
I meant to add, who would have imagined that this planet of ours which was smart enough to create itself, or if you believe in the Big Man, smart enough to have been created by some divine creator, build the chemical blocks of life, letting that life evolve to such a degree that we may one day travel to other planets. Who would imagine then that all that was done, and that the fact that those life creations would multiply and inhabit every corner of the planet, requiring to use the planets resources, and the planet had not factored in the fact that those life forms would release some carbon in doing so.
Would such an intelligent creator have overlooked the CO2 that is allegedly going to cook us?
Well if you look at the evidence now emerging from these deep ocean vents and geology that has been around now for decades it seems the planet has taken care of it all. Life forms has been found in places where it was previously thought to be impossible for that life from to inhabit. So the scientists got it wrong.
The CO2 creates plankton which creates other carbon life forms that sink to the bottom of these deep oceans after life and gets drawn into the life cycle once more, who would have thunk it?
CO2 is the life giving element on this planet that we need.
We need to live in a much cleaner way yes, both in material terms and in moral terms. But CO2 is not the enemy. Humans thrive when the climate is slightly warmer, the history of the planet is telling us that.
What a pity some are not listening.
