Free Wifi

Why would anyone lug a 27" iMac to a coffee shop? With the best will in the world it couldn't be described as portable.

Mine is only 21" and it's heavy enough without the keyboard and other accessories. There could be all sorts of reasons why this chap decided to use the free wifi facilities in a coffee shop in the south of England.

My suggestion is that his home wifi had crashed and he doesn't have a GP3 dongle. What's yours?

Because he's a FanBoi, and wants to impress the females with the size of his equipment?

  4. Small is the new big in the impression stakes. The smaller it is on show the bigger it is likely to be in private.

    That man wasn't pulling anyone.

  6. Lupus incomitatus, good suggestion but the person who took the photo said it didn't seem as if he was known to the staff.

  8. There are some things you just can't do on an iPad Apogee, such as use Blogger reasonably well. The app is very limited.

  9. Well, I have to admit, the big screen certainly makes a difference to the computer world JRB. Don't know where I'd be without it now. Using a 17" windows laptop isn't nearly as much fun.

  10. Are you sure it's a cafe SR ? Looks more like a college/ Uni common room.
Can't see anyone with a cuppa and they're all student age.

  12. I was told it was a corner of a coffee shop RM which is usually frequented by laptop users.

  14. Maybe it has nothing to do with his Dongle (whatever that is) nor his dingle or dangly bits. Maybe his just hasn't the cash to feed his electric meter?

    Time to point and laugh...

  16. Crinkly, a dongle is like a wee mobile phone (at least mine is) and it makes it possible for a pc or mobile device to be used anywhere there is a signal. (I'm new to mine too and don't know much more).

    Good suggestion.

  17. It is a bit ott WY. I mean, if he can afford a27" surely he can afford a small laptop for portable reasons.

  18. I rather suspect it's because he is an incredibly sad bas-

Sorry, Ladies present and all that, had to self-censor myself (not a euphemism.)

    ;-)

  19. No need to apologise pa_broon. We all understand just how painful self-censorship can be. :)
